Government securities are the safest investment option in Hungary today, because they are guaranteed by the largest and most stable player in the domestic financial markets, the Hungarian State. At maturity, the State guarantees payment of the full amount of the principal and interest due, regardless of the value, and the claim against the State is not time-barred. No interest tax will be charged on series of State securities issued after 1 June 2019.

When issuing government bonds, the Debt Management Agency's priority is to increase the amount of debt in the hands of the public.
