The Hungarian Government Bond is an interest-bearing government security with maturity longer than one year. Currently, it is issued for four benchmark maturities, namely 3 years, 5 years, 10 years and 15 years. The first auction of the three year and five year fixed rate bonds was on May 2, 1996 and January 30, 1997, respectively. The ten year fixed rate bond was auctioned for the first time on January 14, 1999, while the first auction of the five year floating rate bond was on March 19, 1998. The fifteen year fixed rate bond was introduced on 8 November, 2001.
